About this course

Teach accurate digital data handling, not merely typing. Data entry is a paid, in-demand remote and office skill in Nigeria — but clients pay for clean data, and a single misplaced digit in an invoice, payroll or inventory sheet costs real money.

This course trains the discipline: field types, validation, transcription from paper and images, naming conventions, duplicate removal and error checking — finishing with a timed accuracy test on a realistic dataset.

What you will be able to do

  • Enter and validate data at professional accuracy rates
  • Structure a spreadsheet so it stays usable as it grows
  • Sort, filter, de-duplicate and clean a messy dataset
  • Name and organise files so a client can find anything instantly
  • Produce a short, honest accuracy and progress report

The deliverable

Certificate requirement

A cleaned and organised dataset

You receive a realistic raw dataset — inconsistent names, mixed date formats, duplicates, missing values — and hand back a cleaned, validated, properly formatted spreadsheet with a summary sheet, plus your measured accuracy and speed figures.

How the course is assessed

Level 1

Know

You can explain the concept, name the tools involved and recognise the difference between doing it well and doing it carelessly.

Level 2

Do

You can perform the task independently, without the instructor repeating the steps, and fix the obvious problems when they appear.

Level 3

Create

You can use the skill to produce something a real person would pay for — a document, a design, a website, a report, a repaired machine.

Data Entry — questions

The things prospective students actually ask before enrolling.

Is data entry still a real job with AI around?+

Yes, but the shape has changed. Pure retyping of clean documents is being automated. What still pays is the messy middle: reconciling two systems that disagree, cleaning historical records, verifying entries against source documents, and owning a register that a business depends on. This course teaches the verification and cleaning half, which is the half that survives automation.

What accuracy rate counts as professional?+

For general business data, 98% field accuracy is the working minimum and 99.5%+ is what makes a client keep you. Financial fields — amounts, account numbers, invoice references — should be at 100% because a single error can move money. We test at those thresholds and show you how to structure work so errors get caught before delivery.

Can I take this course if my typing is slow?+

Yes. Slow but accurate beats fast and wrong every time in this work, and speed improves with the drills. If your typing is very slow, taking Typing & Computer Basics first will make the timed practical in session four far more comfortable.

Will I learn Excel properly?+

You learn the parts of Excel that data work depends on: structure, formatting, sorting, filtering, duplicates, validation and basic summary formulas. That is a working foundation, not the full Microsoft Office course, which goes further into charts, presentation and document production.
