About this course

Enable a beginner to design and publish a functional basic website. By the final session you have a live 3–5 page site on a real domain that works on a phone.

This is the no-code-plus-code entry point to the web: you learn what domains and hosting actually are, how HTML structures a page, how CSS makes it look intentional, how to lay out real business sections, and how to get it online. Web Development is the deeper six-week follow-on for people who want to write interactive applications.

What you will be able to do

  • Explain domains, hosting and browsers in plain language to a client
  • Write clean semantic HTML for headings, text, links, images, lists, tables and forms
  • Style a page with CSS including colours, type, spacing, flexbox and responsive layout
  • Build the standard business sections: navigation, hero, about, services, gallery, contact
  • Test on mobile, optimise images and publish to a live URL

A complete small business website — home, about, services, gallery and contact — styled responsively, tested on mobile, and published live on a URL you can send to a client.

Web Design — questions

The things prospective students actually ask before enrolling.

What is the difference between Web Design and Web Development?+

Web Design (4 weeks) takes you to a designed, responsive, published website — HTML, CSS, layout, quality and hosting. Web Development (6 weeks) goes further: JavaScript, DOM manipulation, interactivity, forms with validation, debugging tools, Git and a full deployed application. Take Web Design first if you have never touched code; go straight to Web Development if you already understand HTML and CSS basics.

Do I need to buy a domain?+

For class you publish free on a provided subdomain, so you spend nothing. To run a real client or business site you buy a domain (roughly ₦10,000–₦18,000 a year for a .com) and either use free static hosting or a small hosting plan. We show you both options and what each actually costs before you commit.

Is this a WordPress or website-builder course?+

No — you build with HTML and CSS so you understand what is actually happening. That knowledge is what lets you diagnose problems in WordPress, Wix or any builder later, and it is what clients pay more for than template editing.

How much coding is involved?+

You write HTML and CSS by hand from session two. There is no programming logic in this course — no loops, no functions, no JavaScript. If writing markup feels comfortable and you want interactivity, Web Development is the next course.
